Waxbones

Waxbones is a digital artist and founder of Prometheus Lab, a NFT project he uses as a creative outlet for his "slightly off" art.

He is a full-time graphic designer and artist whose work is heavily inspired by punk music, tattoo culture, and old 30s-style cartoons. His art has been described as "juxtaposing the macabre with the whimsical". Waxbones discovered NFTs in January 2021 through a friend, Gavin Strange (aka Jamfactory), who was releasing a physical print that came with an edition of one of his NFT pieces. Intrigued, Waxbones asked Gavin about NFTs, and Gavin sent him some information about what NFTs are and how to get involved. In 2022, he left his day job to become a full-time artist.

Waxbones draws inspiration from struggles with mental health, sci-fi and horror, punk, hardcore and related genres of music, artists like Guillermo Del Toro, Alex Pardee, Mcbess, and old rubber hose animations.

His NFT project, Prometheus Lab, is a narrative-driven art project that allows collectors to customise their own "Abomination" artwork by mixing and matching different elements of the piece using the "re-roll" feature. Prometheus Lab is part of the larger "Waxbone Zone" universe, a constantly evolving and exciting space for creativity and innovation. He aims to push the boundaries of traditional art and engage audiences through compelling narratives and unique experiences.

The name "Waxbones" is a nod to a failed side hustle from years past - screen printing designs onto record player slipmats. Wax refers to the record, while the bones represent the slipmat that holds the record in place.
